The project "ALFA Observatory" was selected as part of Lot 3 (Accompanying Measures) of Programme ALFA III. ALFA Observatory is responsible for identifying/promoting synergies among all 14 projects selected in the scope of the first Call for Applications, collect, centralise and disseminate information, data, statistics and results relative to all ALFA III projects, as well as identify and disseminate good practices during the implementation of all ALFA projects of the present and previous phases of Programme ALFA.

Structure

The Observatory includes a Coordination installed at Universidade do Porto, in Portugal, with associated antennas in Latin America located at member organisations forming the consortium created to implement the Project.

Leading Activities

Leading activities of ALFA III Observatory are:

  • To produce publications related to ALFA III project management, including administrative and procedures, financial requirements and visibility guidelines, to compile relevant and disseminate good practices and to publish supporting publications such as guidelines, flyers, lectures, speeches, press-releases, news in the media, photo/video library, etc.
  • To organise and maintain electronic data-bases for all types of relevant information (projects, results, good practices, statistics, etc.).
  • To organise coordination meetings of major thematic areas of projects selected aiming at exchange of information, identify/promote synergies for future action.
  • To promote workshops for project leaders on operational subjects such as project management, administrative procedures, financial requirements, visibility guidelines, discussion of good practices etc.
  • To organise dissemination events for HEI's, public and private organisations and general public.
  • To produce review papers/evaluation studies on the progress achieved in priority areas defined for ALFA III.
  • To publish a newsletter with relevant information about the implementation of ALFA III Programme.
